Albany was formerly known as Athens, Missouri. It was first laid out in May 1845. The name was changed from Athens to Albany in the year 1857 as there was another Albany in Clark County Missouri.

An annual event that features bull riding and steer roping as well as other sanctioned events. Civic organizations provide refreshment. There is an approximate attendance each year of 3,000. Approx. attendance-- 3000

Weeklong celebration featuring crafts, antiques, woodworking, baby show, talent contest, live bands, home-town games and lots of fun for everyone.
One highlighted event is the FFA/4-H Livestock event held on Wednesday of the appointed week.
Friday features a live band and talent show.
Saturday a Downtown Flea Market called the "Market Square", Parade and more evening festivities.
There is an approximate attendance of 4,000.

Late night shopping for the event in stores in Downtown shopping district
Reading of Christmas stories at the Carnegie Public Library.
