How about your vacation, or how your child's baseball team is
doing. Maybe Grandma and Grandpa on the other side of the country
would like to know how everyone is doing in Aldrich.
2000, May
To The people of Missouri, around Polk Co.
A very long time ago, about 1835, our ancestor, and other church members, and family came to Aldrich,Mo., country side, to start a church, and also to homestead land. Our ancestor's were David Coffman, b.1787 who died 1838, and is buried on old homestead, along with wife Susanna Bunch Coffman. This Coffman family came from Grainger Co. Tenn., with 9-11 children to Aldrich, Mo. David and Susan graves, also with two more that cannot be read, are located 4 miles n/e of present day Aldrich Post office. The cemetery is located atop of a small hill, in small trees, abt. 1/4 mile from road. There is a Bunch family cemetery at edge of road. Do any of you old timers know this general area?
We do not need family genealogy on Coffman's, however it is always welcome. David Coffman was a Baptist preacher and we see two bldg. on what should of been their homestead; one, an old house and other that could of been a church. We wrote the Baptist Church Archives at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., for info on Aldrich Church. They replied back, "they did not know anything about a church there", and that they would like to gather all the info. On this church, that can be located, and to included it in The State of Missouri Baptist Archives. This is the reason for this e-mail, for any one having "any" info on old Aldrich Baptist Church, to please forward to me and I will get it together and send to them. I feel so sad, that cows have the run of their graves, stepping on them, and that they, and their church, are so forgotten. Please help us with your info., and we respectfully send our thanks..
