seasonal. The summers are hot and dry, the winters, cold and snowy. The Autumns are mild and breezy with a springtime that is cool and moist. Summer temps are usually in the mid to upper 90's with occasional days of 100 degree weather. In the winter, temperatures generally fall into single digits and below zero.

Settled in August of 1869 by George W. Scott and William H. Colbern, who named the new town, Belton. They named it for a good friend of Scott's, Capt. Marcus Lindsey Belt, who helped them to survey the area. Most of the area was settled by families from Kentucky. The above webpage has more history information about Belton.
