Bowlin Family of Cosby, Missouri
CHARLES CHESTER and DORA LOU BOWLIN were born
to CHESTER A. BOWLIN and DORA (RILEY) BOWLIN of COSBY, MISSOURI,
January 8, 1926. CHESTER BOWLIN served as Mayor of Cosby also a
BUNZ. CHESTER was a businessman in Cosby.
He was sole or part owner of a creamery, Allis Chalmer Farm
Equipment business, and a Chevrolet Dealership. Mrs. Bowlin was a
retired schoolteacher. The large white home of the BOWLIN FAMILY
sported its own croquet court. Later, MR. BOWLIN liquidated his assets and abandoned
his family. At the age of 12, CHARLES went to work nights, full-time, and school, days, to support his twin sister and his mother. He
continued to support her until her death. No traces have been
found, still, of CHESTER. Grandma lived with us in St Joseph, MO on Jones
St., where she died in the late 40's. DORA LOU BOWLIN, died in
Florida a few years back, with her brother and my mother at her
side. My father, (stepfather) and my mother had an early birth of my
little brother, who would have been CHARLES CHESTER BOWLIN, JR., had
he lived. My mother and father will celebrate their 55th Wedding
Anniversary on September 25 of 2001. CHARLES C. BOWLIN, is 75 years
of age and became an ordained minister a couple of years ago. He
has to his credit, Coordinator for BILLY GRAHMM CRUSADE at 3 RIVERS
STADIUM in Pittsburgh. Jesus March on Washington, Former President
of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Assoc. for Western Pennsylvania,
President of Friends of Boy Scouts in Monroeville, PA and owner of
Bowlin Plumbing and Heating in Penn Hills, PA, which he still runs
full time with a staff of 8 employees and four trucks. His wife
Lavona, is an increasingly famous gospel singer, and they travel to
her engagements every weekend in PA and surrounding states. Mr.
Bowlin has a saying, "If you cannot live on a 40 hour paycheck, then
you are living beyond your means". On their front door is a sign,
tastefully done, that states, "As for My House, We will Serve the
Lord".
