Winona Historical Events

1939, July 19
There was a terrible crime committed around July 19,1939. Investigating officers were Sheriff Powell, deputies Esco Huitt, and Geo. Salch. The woman and early settler, was Anne Miley who had kept herself barricaded for about 30 years behind a barbed-wire fence. Her head was crushed, and body mutilated.
