The mill provided a base for the area economy. The Mobile-Jackson and Kansas City Railroad came through in the early 1900's. It was at that time that L.L. Denson moved here to found the city of Bay Springs in 1904. The city was named for the natural springs near the center of Bay Springs. A cupola shades the spring today.
