History & History Related Items Kalispell history: Kalispell was founded in 1887, but not as Kalispell. It was first known as Demmersville for Jack Demmers, the founder. A few years later, Demmersville ceased to exist when the railroad bypassed the site for what would become Kalispell. The first engine arrived on 1 January 1892.
