Virginia City is a very much alive "ghost town" about 20 miles west of Yellowstone National Park. (it is probably 90 miles by road). The town actually began as Verona back in 1863. This name was after Varina, the wife of the President of the Confederate States of America. This and much more may be found on the above history page. There is significant Civil War history in the western town!
