Kannapolis history:

Original home of Cannon Mills later to be called Fieldcrest Cannon. Now owned by the Pillowtex corp. of Texas.
A quiet mill community with lots of park space and a rural atmosphere. Quality schools and top flight libaries.
Home of the state 3a football champs

In 1906, industrialist, James William Cannon, bought a large tract of farmland and built Cannon Mills Company. Kannapolis grew up around the mill.
In 1984, the citizens of Kannapolis voted to incorporate, making the largest unincorporated city in the United States the 16th largest city in North Carolina.
