History & History Related Items

Love Valley is located on Fox's Mountain. The mountain was named for the Fox family, which owned it during the 1900's. Before then, it was known as Shumaker Mountain, named for early settlers.

Love Valley is on the south side of Fox's Mountain, and was incorporated in 1954. Andy Barker, the mayor and founder, created the town to be real western town. He always loved cowboys and wanted to live in a Western town. Love Valley has dirt streets, hitching posts, horses and buggys and wooden sidewalks along with its western facades on all buildings. Attractions

Love Valley is a horse and family-oriented camping resort town. There are many and varied activities available. Accommodations include all types from primitive camping to great bed & breakfast. The town, itself, will make you feel like you back in the "old west" with its western themed buildings and stores, such as a General Store, saloon and a Blacksmith. Many events are held each year including several rodeos.

Love Valley Historical Events

1970, July
This was a great time in History, Love Valley Love Festival during the war and before Woodstock, Great artist and performers were there. Over 15,000 music lovers came to listen and love on just the first day. The crowd was orderly overall. The crowd count was around 300,000 by the end of the Festival. Love Valley
