Otto R. Jacobi - b. 1812 - d. 1901
An extremely well known Canadian 19th century artist, Otto R Jacobi, had family here. His works are prominently hung in the National Gallery of Canada. This web site has references to Ardoch and Jacobi. He lived here in the 1880s and later on with a son. Ardoch was named after the same Canadian bush village he and his family had lived in. He painted the beauty of the Canadian landscape. A naturalist, Jacobi's detailed pictures were created using photographs of each area he painted.
