Crawford history: When the Fremont Elkhorn Railroad expanded west in 1886, Crawford was founded. Crawford was next to a military post in its early days and had its share of rowdiness with the soldiers off base for a "fling." Many stories were told of shootouts and other wild behavior before the city settled down.
