Potter history: Potter was named after General Joseph S. Potter, the Union Pacific Railroad Directory. The Union Pacific Railroad had built a station house here in 1870. The Station House also was the post office, schoolhouse and land development office. Potter is one of Western Nebraska oldest communities.
