The weather in Stratton is seasonal. Stratton, however, does not experience very many extremes in weather. Occasionally, the summer temperatures will go above 100 and winter lows will be below 0, they those days are few. Most of the precipitation comes between April and September. Snow may fall in late winter. The last freeze is usually in late April with the first frost around the beginning of October. History & History Related Items Stratton history: The founder of Stratton was C.V. Bailey. When it began in 1879, it was first known as Frontier. The railroad came along in 1882 and Mary Stratton donated land for the town site. The name was changed at that time to honor her. Stratton was incorporated in 1888 as a village.
