Drum & Bugle Corps
Berlin's history of providing award winning drum & bugle corps was second to none anywhere in the state. Ste. Anne's Parish sponsored The Musketeers Drum & Bugle Corps. Their colorful uniforms and customized instruments were a joy to observe. The Musketeers eventually formed a junior drum & bugle corps in order to provide an ongoing reservoir of future members to their group, from which the best would be selected to replace retiring Musketeers. This junior affiliate was known as The Squires. I was a drummer in The Squires and had finally been offered my big break to move up to the senior group. Unfortunately, the group disbanded shortly after, due to conflicts between the parish pastor and the director of the group. I often wonder why there isn't more information provided on this group. It was an outstanding collection of the best musical talent the North Country could offer and the numerous awards prove how great they really were. I welcome all of you who may have more information about The Musketeers of Ste. Anne's Parish in Berlin, New Hampshire, to share it with all of us who remember. Please forward pictures if you have them.
Thanks, Ron Gauthier
