2001, July 22Swanzey Old Home Day
An Annual Event since 1877 in nearby Swanzey!
Place: Swanzey Center, New Hampshire
Time: 9am through the day
Sponsored by: Town of Swanzey
Swanzey's Old Home Day is one of the oldest in New England, beginning in 1877 as Old Home Day. Prior to that, it was known as Basket Picnic Day. This year's old Home Day is Sunday, July 16, 2000. Rain or Shine.
Rte. 32, Swanzey Center, N.H. just south of Keene.
Activities: 6th N.H. Civil War Re-enactment, Westmoreland Town Band Concert, the Hobbs Family Trio, Annual Craft Fair, Annual Vintage Stock Car Show-Tractors & Engines, a Great Parade, Swanzey's DJ-John Arnone, Games for the Kids, Potash Bowl Church Service, Firemen's Steak Fry, and the Season Finale of "The Old Homestead" play by Denman Thomspon.

6th New Hampshire Civil War Re-enactment
Location: Swanzey Center, NH Rte. 32, just south of Keene
6th New Hampshire Civil War Reenactment in cooperation with the Swanzey Old Home Day, begins 9am. Authentic encampment set up across a rolling field in Swanzey Center. Wonderful photo opportunity. Drills and maneuvers will be performed throughout the day. See what camp life was really like during the Civil War and meet the re-enactors. The 6th New Hampshire Color Guard will also march in the day's parade at 2pm.
2001, July 22 - Sunday
Revolutionary War Living History Demonstration in cooperation with the Swanzey Old Home Day, rain or shine, begins 9am and is set up throughout the day. It is the American Revolution as seen through the eyes of Joseph Chapman, a New Hampshire militiaman from Campbell's Gore in the Province of New Hampshire. Jospeh Chapman is will also be in the day's parade with the Bennington flag on a staff.(2pm) This living history is based on solid research and a commitment to accuracy. 18th century New England reproduction artifacts are used. Period cooking demonstrations are included. A great photo opportunity and a chance to meet people from an important time in our history.
