Founded by the Moravians in 1769.

The first settler into Hope was Peter Warbass who came from Bethlehem to establish a Moravian settlement in 1769. The settlement was first named Greenland in honor of Samuel Green, a pioneer who entertained the Moravian missionaries on their trips here to baptize and preach to the Indians of the area.

The Hope and Dreams Film Festival

The Hope and Dreams Film Festival is an annual showcase of competitive films from the USA and Internationally which are shown in an intimate venue.
Select filmmakers are on hand for Q&A during film previews. Now in our 3rd year. Hope, NJ is a historic village northwest of NY City. The film festival draws audiences from the local area and NYC and Philadelphia. Filmmakers come from around the US. The films are features, shorts, documentaries and animation on a variety of
subject. Many have won awards.
