This community along the Ruidoso River began in the 1890's as a trading post. The old water wheel of the trading post still stands on Main Street.

Attractions
Ruidoso is a popular year-round resort area. Reservations are recommended for all attractions and lodging, particularly during the summer months.
Ruidoso Downs
A resort community near Ruidoso which features quarter horse and Thoroughbred racing. While you are here, visit the Museum of the Horse a half mile from the track. There are life-size models, tack and paintings which are a significant collection of historic and other western artworks. Call 505 378-4142 for more information on the museum.
Hubbard Museum of the American West
Founded in 1992, this museum houses a great collection of carriages, wagons, saddles fine art and Indian artifacts.
