The Nevada state capital is Carson City.
The population of Moapa is approximately 500 (1998).
Location
in northeast Clark County along highway 168, just north of the Moapa Indian reservation. It is near Mesquite.

Moapa was originally a railroad town with several saloons, hotels etc and a stockyard. One of the early families to settle the area was the Perkins, a Mormon family.
Named for one of its settlers is the Ute V. Perkins middle school.
Relations to the Perkins are the Searles family
Moapa is a rural residential area.

An attraction of the area is Warm Springs. It has the headwaters of the Muddy River which goes through the town and Moapa Valley on its way to Lake Mead.

Moapa City Government
Moapa is an unincorporated area of Clark County and is governed by the County. It is within Commission District B. In Nevada, County Commissioners are the legally constituted Town Boards for all unincorporated towns. Each town has an advisory board; however, all traditional governmental decisions are made by the Board of County Commissioners.
