5. Bronx - population 1,332,650 (2000)
Each Borough has a President and a board . The city has a mayor and several assistant mayors There is a 51 person council which governs along with the Mayor. All are elected offices with four year terms. In 1898, the five boroughs were incorporated into a single entity, known as Greater New York.
