The library collection consists of material pertinent to genealogical research and county research. Holdings include county histories for Guernsey county and additional Ohio counties; census records 1820-1920 for Guernsey and neighboring counties; 1890 special census Civil War schedules for Athens, Belmont, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Meigs, Monroe counties; original probate court case packets which include wills, administrations, guardianship records, etc., marriage records, land records; Quaker City Home Towner (newspaper); birth and death records; delayed and corrected birth records vol 1-9; naturalization records vol 1-5; probate accounts 1848-1852; family genealogies; generation charts, Guernsey County; atlas's; plat books; tax assessor records; miscellaneous death records from 1940-1950; Guernsey County Church records; cemetery records; card file and miscellaneous scrapbooks of obituaries; wide variety of Ohio county newsletters, histories, cemetery records, marriage records, census records etc.; miscellaneous research material covering the State of Ohio including Howe's Ohio History; Lewis's History of Ohio; Galbreath's History of Ohio; Ohio cemetery locations; Hinshaw's Quaker Records; Ohio Lands; Gateway to the West; Tax Records; Ohio Settlers; Ohio Township locations; Gar books; additional miscellaneous Ohio resources; muskingum county land records to 1900; 1850 Prince Williams, Prince George, Prince Edward, Louden, Louisa, Doddridge, Elizabeth City, Essex, and Fairfax counties VA; miscellaneous collection of research material for the US including marriage records, military records, land records, passenger\immigration records, SS Death Index, western PA genealogies, southern biographies and genealogies, New England family histories, mid-atlantic genealogies, Mayflower Families genealogies, Mass civil war soldiers & sailors, confederate soldier's civil war records, US census index 1820-1850

The Guernsey County Genealogical Society dedicates itself to the preservation of all records. A chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, the Guernsey County Chapter also sponsors a First Family and Pioneer Family organization. A quarterly newsletter is published for members. The research library is open to the public at no charge. Limited research is conducted by volunteers upon request. Society meetings are held the 1st Monday of the month.
