This 12 foot high portrait of the Wyandot Indian Chief Leatherlips was commissioned by the Dublin Arts Council and completed in 1990 by artist Ralph Helmick. The sculpture is made out of limestone, which is indigenous to the region, evidenced by the area's buildings and stone walls. History relates that Leatherlips was executed by fellow tribesmen because of his refusal to fight the white settlers of Dublin. The Wyandot Indian is said to have been executed at a site near Scioto Park, and his last hunting camp was located on the banks of the river, nearly the exact location of the present-day park.
Located one and ¾ miles north of SR 161 on SR 257.
109 ears of concrete corn rise up 5-6 feet from the ground. The commissioned art by Malcolm Cochran symbolizes a celebration of Dublin's history as a farming community and serves as a memorial to rural landscape being consumed by urban development.
