Phillipsburg Historical Events

Jesse Haines - Baseball Hall of Fame
Phillipsburg OH is the homesite of baseball hall of famer, Jesse Haines. Jesse was a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1920/30s. He pitched against the New York Yankees (Babe Ruth) in the 1926 World Series, when St. Louis won the series. He built a beautiful 2.5 story colonial home (51 South State St.) as a sort of "victory reward" for the series. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1970, and died in 1978. His daughter now resides in the home.
