A history page for Hobart.
Hobart began quite suddenly when the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Reservation was opened to settlement in August of 1901. One day there was nothing, within hours over 2,000 tents had appeared. Thousands of people arrived to take part in the drawing for land. After the drawing, 2,530 people had become Hobart!
Hobart was settled in 1901 and named for Garrett A. Hobart, at that time Vice President of the United States.
