His work at the Ft. Sill air strip was just one more step in his search to fly and be near those who flew. He was the first to study high-altitude flights. He discovered the jet stream. He invented the pressurized suit, a variation of which is used in space flight today. He was truly the "Father of Modern Aviation." Maysville has honored Post by renaming the high school auditorium The Wiley Post Auditorium, as well as The Wiley Post Lake, and The Wiley Post Monument dedicated in his memory at the Kiwanis Walking Trail.
