Founded in 1908 by Charles Page, a local oilman, Page wanted to build a community for families with a good and diverse industrial base. There are over 600 small businesses now in Sand Springs with 52 industries. The city was incorporated in 1912 and has operated in its present council/manager form since the charter was established in 1969.
