Sayre, Oklahoma
Governor Frank Keating delivered the keynote address at the dedication of the North Fork Correctional Facility which will house more than 1400 inmates and create 275 new jobs.
"This is a historic and proud moment for this community," the Governor told the crowd on hand for the dedication. Private prisons help the state take care of its responsibility to house prisoners without burdening the public sector with prison construction costs."
The facility is owned and operated by Corrections Corporation of America and is similar to private prisons in Holdenville and Cushing. CCA co-founder Doctor Crants joined the Governor and Beckham county officials at the dedication.
