Adrian history:

Some say that Adrian was actually begun on the other side of the Snake River but moved when they thought the Oregon Short Line Railroad would be going in on the west bank. Reuben McCreary platted the site on 73 acres and named it Riverside. The Railroad received the right-of-way from Mr. McCreary in 1911. He later changed the name to Adrian after his hometown of Adrian, Illinois.
