Carlisle was founded in 1751. It was General George Washington's army's first arsenal and school. It was also, at one time, the country's school for Native Americans. Famous runner and Olympian, Jim Thorpe, attended this school.

Family Celebration of Freedom
Held each year on July 4th and surrounding days.
Begins July 1st and runs through July 5th with events for everyone. There are roast beef dinners, 5 and 10K runs, art/craft shows, basketball tournaments, fireworks, symphonies, musicals, and much more.
