A History summary for Emlenton.
The Emlenton area was first opened to settlers around 1798. Andrew McCaslin, an Irish businessman, came around 1820 to look for building stones. He loved the area instantly and settled on the site which became Emlenton later. Emlenton was named for Hannah Emlen, who was the wife of Joseph Fox. Mr. Fox was a wealthy Quaker who owned much land in Venango and Clarion Counties.
