"Apparently Nanticoke was an early home of Nanticoke Indians. The story goes that Nanticoke owed its beginnings to water power made possible by a nearby falls. The Nanticoke, by the way, known for settling the eastern shore region of Maryland, are sometimes known as "the seashore settlers."
