This is a rustic sod and log dwelling. It is located at the North Entrance to the Badlands National Park and was built and occupied by homesteaders in 1909. This cabin is on its original site and is one of the few intact sod dwellings left today. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was restored in 1962 and is furnished much like a home of that period would have looked. Also located here is the only white Prairie Dog Town. The animals live in an uncontrolled natural environment.
