The Carnegie Library building is one of thirty-four library buildings funded by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. It is one of only four of those buildings still used as a public library. This building became a recorded Texas Landmark in 1962. Completed in 1911, the exterior was restored in 1979 and the interior rehabilitation was finished in November of 1986.
The beautiful, historic building now houses not only expanded library facilities and services, but also provides space for the Arts and Humanities through exhibitions, theater and musical productions. ,Many educational, cultural, civic, and social activities and meetings areheld there.
