Bartlett history: Bartlett was named for John T. Bartlett. He donated the townsite to the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. The community is located in both Bell and Williamson Counties. They say that early saloon owners took great advantage of the dual county status with rolling bar carts which could be moved to take best advantage of each county's laws. The Bartlett Historic Commercial District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district has streets paved with red brick and buildings of the same. The entire area uses benches, flower pots with colorful blooms, and replica street lamps to bring the restored area together.
