Founded in 1908 by E. O. Burton and A. H. Danforth, Bayside was laid out near the former community of Black Point. Though it grew slowly and stayed small, Bayside was incorporated in 1977. One of its famous historical landmarks is the magnificent mansion home of Major John H. Wood, built in 1875.
