History & History Related Items Beeville history: When Bee County was organized in 1858, the original county seat was located on the Medio Creek seven miles from the present location of Beeville. The town was called Beeville on the Medio. The county seat was moved in 1859 to 150 acres of land donated by Mrs. Anne Burke O'Carroll and the name was changed to Marysville. In 1860, the Texas Legislature mandated that the name be changed again to Beeville because the county laws declared that the county seat should be named Beeville. In the late 1800's, Beeville was known as the "Forest of Windmills," because there was a windmill in every yard.
