This is the oldest Carnegie Library still standing in Texas. It was constructed in 1903 and restored in 1999. The restored library was officially re-dedicated on 10 July 1999 and named the Carnegie Center of Brazos Valley

The Carnegie Center features an expanding collection of genealogical materials, including 10 computers connected to the Internet (courtesy of Cox Communications); 4 computers to use with several hundreds ofcompact disks. The second floor houses the genealogical collection and on the first floor is a collection of local history documents and photographs, rare books, Texana and a miniature doll house. On microfilm you can research in early day editions of the Eagle newspaper and the Galveston newspapers.
