Caldwell history:

Founded in 1840, Caldwell was named for a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and Texas Ranger, Matthew "Old Paint" Caldwell. The area historically was a major cotton producing place, but as time went on oil and gas grew in importance. Caldwell continues to be a centralized trading center for the surrounding small towns and rural areas.

The Kolache Festival
held the 2nd Saturday in September each year.
In celebration of the Czech heritage of this community, this festival promotes the art, music and talent of the ancestors of the present generation.
