Cleburne was founded by Patrick Cleburne. There is a lake here named 'Lake Pat Cleburne'.

Attractions
Cleburne has its own museum, The Layland Museum. Cleburne also has a choir for children. The theater group here is called the Carnegie Players.
There are several City fests in Cleburne, such as: Mayfest, Springfest, or Octoberfest.
There are many active Girl and Boy Scout groups. The Boy Scouts have yearly Pinewood Derby races with wooden cars. The Girl Scouts have yearly celebrations called Favorite Fellow Day where all the Girl Scout troops come bring food , share food, provide troop-made entertainment, and bring their 'Favorite Fellow', usually their dad.

At the moment (1999) it has a building for all the sixth grade students, by the name of Fulton Intermediate School. There is a band class for all students who've passed the band test. But since a recent election (1999), Fulton will soon be no more and other buildings will be built for school grades 6th- 8th. The Juinor High has three bands, an athletics class, a U.I.L tennis class, a recreational tennis class, a Physical Education class, a choir, home economics, health, drama, a pre-algebra, a technology class, and many other classes.
There are a couple of private Christian Schools such as Cleburne Christian Community School, (C.C.C.S).
