Attractions

Edinburg is the county seat of Hidalgo County, in the Rio Grande Valley. It is the home ofUniv. of Texas-Pan American formerly Pan American College. About 80 % of Texas' citrus industry is located in Hidalgo County. The Rio Star grapefruit is one of several patented varieties of citrus developed inthe Rio Grande Valley.

Tourism is an important industry to Edinburg, and many "Winter Texans" come to stay each year, enjoying the mild weather seldom below 40%F, the pick-your-own citrus orchards, shopping trips to Mexico, and social events at the tourist centers. UT-Pan American also offers concerts, plays, and Mexican Folklorico dancing.
