Personal Memories growing up in Freeport Texas

I was born in the Freeport Community Hospital on August 27, 1947. My father and mother lived at 511 East 7th St, Freeport, Texas.
Most of my childhood was spent at New Jeruselam Baptist Church. I sang in the Choir, attended Sunday School and almost every Church Service held there.
My fondest memories were the hot Texas summers, going to Bryan Beach, heading Shrimp, and crabbing at a place we called the "Gar hole". Although I am far from there now, I want to go back, and some daylive in Freeport.
I attended a little black school there named R Ohara Lanier High School. I graduated in May of 1965, went into the Armed Services in 1967 and returned to attend College there. If you have never lived in a place so nice and peaceful, you should try Freeport. Freeport is a great place to relax in and take your mind off the cares of the world. You can fish to your heart's content and the beaches are what beacheswere meant to be - Quiet and peaceful. If you ever go to Texas, you must visit this place that I call home.
