A history page for Gordon.
This community was named for H. L. Gordon who was a railroad engineer when the railroad was being built in this area around 1880. It was then known as Hampton and was situated just north of today's Gordon. It was in 1880 that Hampton was moved to Gordon and began to grow and prosper. By 1889, Gordon had about 300 residents.
