History & History Related Items Groesbeck history: This town was named for Abraham Groesbeeck, one of the directors of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad in 1869. The town was incorporated on 12 April 1871 by an act of the Texas Legislature. At the time of incorporation, the city name was spelled Groesbeck and was never corrected.
