The Houston Space Chapter is an Alumni Extension chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The mission of NSBE is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. There are more than 12,000 NSBE members worldwide, ranging from middle school through professional engineers. The Houston Space Chapter was founded in 2003 and is composed primarily of engineers at NASA's Johnson Space Center. The chapter conducts technical activity, community service, and mentoring both within NASA and in the Houston community at large.
