History & History Related Items Oak Leaf history: In 1983 a group of one hundred home owners, members of the Red Oak Creek Homeowner's Association, made the decision to incorporate into a city which they named Oak Leaf. The name of the City was chosen due to the multiple creeks and large oak trees in this far northern part of Ellis County. In 1987 homeowners in the Little Creek and Lark Lane subdivisions petitioned the city for inclusion bringing the city up to about 833 total acres. In November 1998, Willow Creek Farms requested to be a part of the city which increased the acreage by approximately 700 acres. In 2000 Oak Leaf annexed 86 acres known as Chapman Ranch Estates at the owner's request, bring the total acreage to approximately 1619 acres. Currently the city has about 700 + acres yet to be developed. The city offers great potential to future homeowners who wish to settle on one or more acres.
