History & History Related Items Pantego history: Though settlers arrived here around 1860 during the Civil War times, it wasn't until 1884 that Frederick Foscue donated the land for the first school here and wanted the town named after Pantego, a Caddo Indian who assisted some of the early Anglo settlers in eastern Tarrant County, Texas. The offical name is "Town of Pantego". Pantego was completely surrounded by the city of Arlington by 1989 and remains predominantly a residential community.
