Round Top history: Here is a history page for Roundtop. The area was first known as "Townsend Settlement" after a family of early settlers in the area. Another name is was known by was "Jones Post Office." This was for the first postmaster, Myers F. Jones. No one is sure when it began to be known as Roundtop, but it was before 1850. The name, Roundtop, is thought to have come from a Stagecoach mileage designation, "The House with the Round Top." Here is another history page for Roundtop.
