History & History Related Items Saginaw history: The David Thurmond Family first arrived here in 1848 from Virginia becoming the first settlers of the area. In 1882, the town was later named Saginaw by Jarvis J. Green from Michigan who named it after a Michigan city of the same name. Incorporation occurred in 1949.
