The David Thurmond Family first arrived here in 1848 from Virginia becoming the first settlers of the area. In 1882, the town was later named Saginaw by Jarvis J. Green from Michigan who named it after a Michigan city of the same name. Incorporation occurred in 1949.

Attractions
Eagle Mountain Lake
formed on the West Fork of the Trinity River, this lake has 9,200 acres and is used for recreation as well as for the water supply for Fort Worth. Fishing is great here year-round. All water sports are also available plus other recreational activities in the area.

Saginaw Historical Events
1988, January 16
The residents voted to have a Home Rule type charter for Saginaw with a Council-Manager form of government. There is a Mayor and six councilpersons. All are elected at large and serve three year terms.
1949
Saginaw was incorporated. The first mayor was John Kennedy.
