History & History Related Items Tahoka history: Named after the nearby Tahoka Lake, a natural spring-fed lake whose Indian name means "fresh or clear water". The new town was formed by the Tahoka Townsite Company in 1903. It was incorporated in 1915. At first, growth was based on cattle and cotton. Cotton has continued to be an important industry here with related businesses also coming in to support the cotton crops and their processing. Tahoka has been the seat of Lynn County since 1903. Tahoka attractions: Home of the Tahoka Daisy, a wildflower purple with yellow center, also known as Tansy Aster. The lavender wild flower was first discovered at Tahoka Lake in the late 1800's.
