The weather in Scipio is seasonal with cold winters and snow in the winter and warm summers. Precipitation falls quite evenly throughout the year with March usually having the highest totals. See a weather and climate summary page. History & History Related Items Scipio history: The area was known as Round Valley and Craball before it was settled in 1861. It was named for one of these early settlers, Scipio Kenner. At one time, there was a Fort Scipio located on the site. There are a number of buildings in town that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
